INNODIA Kick-off meeting held in Frankfurt Jan 17th - 19th

More than 70 scientists have attended the INNODIA Kick-off meeting in Frankfurt/Main on Jan 17th – 19th representing the 33 INNODIA participants from academia, EFPIA and patient organizations. This meeting was a perfect opportunity to get to know each other and develop detailed workplans within all the workpackages to accomplish the objectives of this ambitious project. In her opening speech Prof. Chantal Mathieu from KU Leuven pointed out that INNODIA is a unique opportunity to move the insights on the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes forward and dramatically alter the course of the disease. It brings together the dream-team of basic, translational and clinical academic researchers, with the leading pharma companies in diabetes. “It is now our hands, together with JDRF and The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, to put in place the needed clinical sample and trial infrastructure to test the exciting hypotheses and novel interventions arising from our research laboratoria.
